Healing Involves a Journey. Therapists from every health care discipline discover steps in a lifelong process that lead them ever deeper toward the truths of life and the service of their clients. Clients and patients learn about themselves and grow from the challenges of healing. Indigenous cultures explore the inner passages of the psyche in the shamanic journey to acquire healing. Spiritual aspirants follow practices that lead them toward a state of conscious integration and the essence of being.
On occasion, a rare healing practice is found that accesses all these qualities. CranioSacral Therapy is becoming recognized as this kind of resource in the healing disciplines. CranioSacral Therapy works directly with the many levels of human functioning, the process of healing, the journey healing involves, and the inner meaning held within our experiences. CranioSacral Therapy gives us valuable skills for touching all these dimensions of human life.
Much has been written and taught about body-mind medicine in recent years. The field has evolved to a great degree, yet no single practice has been identified that might be a unifying force for integrative medicine. CranioSacral Therapy may be that therapeutic practice. It gives us direct ways of engaging the core physiological processes of the body. The therapist can sense and work with how stress responses and life patterns affect those processes. The central nervous system and factors that influence it can be contacted, sensed, and worked with–without complicated machines and technologic wizardry. Clients are helped to recognize, and sense within themselves, their own responses and to notice when heir vitality and inner resources are building. Ultimately, clients become much more consciously engaged with their experience of life. The therapist acts as a reflecting ground for the client’s healing experience as it attains these benefits.
Life is endlessly creative. This creativity extends itself into the healing process. Each client has an inner healing wisdom that will unfold and express itself when the conditions are created for it to do so. This healing wisdom is at the essence of CranioSacral Therapy. This healing wisdom is inherent in the client. It is innate. It cannot be
accessed through the application of techniques, however skillful. It is contacted through our perception, and our ability to relate to the inherent health of the client, regardless of their presenting condition.”
